Fairings facts...

Cornish people have loved Fairings for more than a century.  It was originally a present bought at the fairs (hence the name) which were held in the county every year at Whitsuntide and Corpus Christi. A little gift for a loved one or a sweetheart consisting of gingerbread, sugared almonds, cinnamon sticks or macaroons, today Cornish Fairings remain a favoured gift from the heart of Cornwall.

John Cooper Furniss's original recipe is for a lightly spiced biscuit, perfect on its own or with tea.  Others in the current Fairings range include orange & lemon, stem ginger & honey, and apple & cinnamon. For holidaymakers and Cornish residents alike, they are a little bit of Cornwall.  Great as a present or souvenir - even better for keeping to yourself!

In 2007 Furniss (Proper Cornish) Ltd established an official trade mark - Original Cornish Fairings - to ensure that the heritage of the unique Fairings is preserved and the recipe protected.  This will help the biscuit remain a premium treat to be enjoyed for generations to come.
